This Italian Meatloaf Recipe is a delicious twist on the classic dish, featuring a blend of ground beef and pork, Parmesan cheese, fresh herbs, and a rich marinara sauce.   • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • ½ cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (divided)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, eggs, milk, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Shape the meatloaf: Place half of the mixture onto the baking sheet, create a well in the center, and fill with shredded mozzarella. Cover with the remaining meat mixture and shape into a loaf.
  • Add sauce: Spread ½ cup marinara sauce over the top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Rest & Serve: Let meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with the remaining marinara sauce.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes or substitute hot Italian sausage for pork.
  • Swap breadcrumbs for almond flour to make it keto-friendly.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge.
