Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh jalapenos, de-stemmed
  • ½ onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • ¾ cup white vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp Mexican oregano
  • ¼ tsp cumin (optional)
  • 810 sprigs fresh cilantro
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients: Wash and de-stem the jalapenos. Roughly chop the onion and peel the garlic.
  2. Cook the base: Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until golden. Add jalapenos, vinegar, water, oregano, cumin, and salt. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Blend: Transfer the mixture to a blender. Add lime juice and cilantro. Blend to your desired consistency.
  4. Store: Pour the sauce into sterilized jars or bottles and refrigerate.
