This quick and flavorful shrimp and cabbage recipe is a perfect meal for busy weeknights. Combining tender shrimp with sautéed cabbage, it delivers a healthy, low-carb dish bursting with taste. Customize it with spices or serve it with rice for added variety.

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  • Prep Ingredients: Rinse and pat dry the shrimp. Chop the cabbage and slice the onion.
  • Cook Shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet. Sauté shrimp with paprika, Cajun seasoning, and a pinch of salt for 2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant. Add the cabbage and cook for 8–10 minutes until tender yet crisp.
  • Combine and Finish: Return shrimp to the skillet. Toss with the cabbage mixture, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2–3 more minutes.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot as is, or pair with rice, cornbread, or a side salad.

Notes

  • For a vegan alternative, replace shrimp with tofu or mushrooms.
  • Adjust spices to taste—add more heat or sweetness as preferred.
