  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • 1 egg

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Stew Sauce:

 

  • 1 tbsp oil (olive or vegetable)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional for extra flavor)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Patties: Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, and seasonings. Shape into equal-sized patties.
  • Brown the Patties: Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat, sear patties for 2 minutes per side until browned.
  • Make the Sauce: Sauté onions and garlic until soft, then add broth, tomatoes, Worcestershire, and soy sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Simmer the Patties: Add the patties to the sauce, cover, and cook on low heat for 30-40 minutes until fully tender.
  • Serve: Enjoy with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and stir into the sauce.
  • For a keto-friendly version, replace breadcrumbs with almond flour and use xanthan gum as a thickener.
  • For a slow cooker version, cook on LOW for 4-6 hours after browning the patties.
